FORT THOMAS,
Ky-Highlands' defense keys on CovCath's Gray
to advance.
Highlands led 21-7 at the half, because the Bluebirds
defense held CovCath to a mere 94 yards offense. The
defense stymied CovCath's Gabe Gray for seven carries for
six lonely yards.
NEWPORT, Ky-Holy Cross
out paced the Thoroughbreds 24-21 for the
victory to head to its only KHSAA semifinal
appearance.
OWENTON, Ky-The Owen County
High School community mourned the loss of a
beloved student this fall. Rebekah Gaines, a senior,
cheerleader and friend, passed away during her battle
with cancer, on October 16.
OWENTON, Ky-Holy
Cross' Kyle Fuller had his hand in every way the team
scored Friday night. He completed 11 of 23
attempts with an interception and two touchdown passes.
He also ran for three touchdowns kicked five extra
points, a field goal and threw for a two point
conversion.
ASHLAND, Ky-CovCath
stops Ashland Blazer 35-8. Gray scored three times
and had more than half of the teams total
offense on the ground. The Colonels will travel to
Highlands next week.
PARK HILLS, Ky- Holmes HIgh School
Alum became an accomplished trumpeter plays
at Rowan County High School football games to combine
his passion for music with his passion for his son.
PARK HILLS, Ky-CovCath
scores 38 straight points and advances to the
second round of the KHSAA 4A Football
playoffs. Gabe Gray rushed 25 times for more than 200
yards and three touchdowns.
VERONA,
Ky-Juggernauts a changed team since the first time they
met Walton-Verona in week five of this
season. "We missed 31 tackles in that game," said Lloyd
Head Coach Josh Stratton.
UNION, Ky-Cooper's
defense nabs three interceptions and one for a 48
yard returned touchdown and limited the
Dixie Heights Colonels advance to 14 points on the

half-time.
UNION, KY-Cooper High School
honored "Hometown Heros" during its home
games this season. The school opened in 2008 and wanted
its administration wanted to start traditions the
community could be proud of attending. Pictured is
William Stinnett, III. He was the final of those honored
during the season's inaugural pregame ritual.
FLORENCE, KY-Boone
County celebrated senior night by scoring early and
often to dominate and halt surging Campbell
County. The Rebels dominated the offensive line on its
opening drive to march 75 yards in 16 plays and scored
two touchdowns inside of 30 seconds.
NEWPORT, Ky-
Newport Catholic won its sixth straight
regional tournament Thursday night and
three players named to the Regional All Tournament Team.
Maggie O'Day was named the Most Valuable Player.

Ky-Referee hushes the crowd while NewCath
ends Brossart's best volleyball post-season run since

NEWPORT,
Ky-Campbell County Camels caravan past the Dayton Green
Devils two games to none, in the first
round of the KHSAA Region 10 volleyball tournament
Monday night. The Camels will play Deming Wednesday
night at 6:30 in the semifinals.
NEWPORT, Ky- The hosting
Newport Wildcats made the game interesting late in the
first half, but visiting NewCath scored 42
unanswered points and raced off to a huge win. NewCath
senior QB, Brady Hightchew tallied up 376 yards total
offense from 206 yards on 12 completed passes for two
scores, and 170 yards on the ground. NewCath had almost
double the offensive yards of Newport.
COVINGTON, Ky-Holy
Cross out scored Brossart by five times as much to
advance to 6-2. The game boiled down to
turnovers and a short field for the home team. Brossart
was hurt by inexperience at quarterback and six

ALEXANDRIA, Ky- The Bishop
Brossart Football team and cheerleaders
changed from their traditional forest green and white to
green and pink. The school was raising awareness and
cash for a local charity that assists women who have
breast cancer. The cause earned more than $6,500
dollars.
TAYLOR MILL, Ky- Newport
catches Brossart off-gaurd on the road and
took advantage of mistakes to win 42-21 on the road, and
Brossart's quarterback, Jesse Orth, was transported to
the hospital with a dislocated hip. The highlight of the
game for the home team was the ceremony at the end to
honor and commemorate loved one's fight against breast
cancer.
TAYLOR MILL, Ky-Bishop
Brossart (3-3) gets upset at its homecoming
game by Lloyd Memorial (3-4). Lloyd came
from behind to win with 16 seconds left on the clock in
the fourth quarter.
ALEXANDRIA,
Ky-Cougars were all smiles against skidding
Mustangs. The Conner volleyball team (10-13) has
not actually been tearing up the court this fall, but
they liked their chances against the skidding Bishop
Brossart Mustangs(19-10), on Tuesday night. The
Mustangs were coming off three straight losses and
hoped to break the streak at home.
VERONA, Ky-Bearcats prove dominate
in cat fight over Panthers. Walton-Verona
scored enough point in the first 3:58 of the game to
beat Carroll County and grab its first district win.
Daugherty highlighted the game, running for three
touchdowns and throwing for two. The home team had
nearly 500 yard offense.
INDEPENDENCE,
Ky-NewCath 24 Simon Kenton 14. The tail in
the first half boiled down to turnovers. Neither team
held onto the ball very well, from interceptions to
fumbles. The Thoroughbreds outpaced the Pioneers in both
halves, though.
VERONA,
Ky-Bearcats blast Juggernauts 42-14. The
home team was anything but host like Friday night. The
blue and white started the game off with a sputter, but
kicked into overdrive to improve its record to 3-1 on
the year and dropping Lloyd Memorial to 1-3.
DRY RIDGE,
Ky-Wolverines maul Braves 21-6 Grant County
hosted Western Hills, Ky Friday, September 2. Both teams
and referees chose to play with two minute timeouts, to
make sure the boys got plenty of water. The reason? Two
games around the Northern Kentucky area were cancelled
due to the heat. Game time temperature in Dry Ridge was
a scorching 94 degrees with a heat index of 98 degrees."
ALEXANDRIA,
Ky-Covington Catholic took the caravan on the
road to Campbell County, Friday night. The Colonels sent
the Camels packing with a 42-2 win. Everything seemed to
go right for CovCath, but there were a few glimmers of
light for the Camels running game.
DRY RIDGE,
Ky- Kentucky high school
girls volleyball began Monday night with Grant
County and Dayton, Ky high schools meeting. GCHS won the
first game 25-18, but the rest was all Green Devils.
Both teams were tried to knock the rust off to open the
2011 season.
DRY
RIDGE, Ky- Grant County High School teams practice
despite heat warnings. The high school sports season
is about to begin, but the coaches have to worry about
more than getting their student athletes in sync.
