"Normally it's pretty close, but this tie we just blew them out of the water," said Slavey.
She was referring the second quarter, when Walton-Verona put on a shooting clinic from the perimeter for a 21-0 run. WV's Katie Slavey hit three times from outside the arc, Jenolee Ginn and Kara Taulbee each sank one from deep as well. Courtney Sandlin was strong underneath with two baskets and MIchele Judy was perfect from the free throw line.
According to Slavey, scoring is not the only thrilling part about offense.
"It's good to know when you get the ball, you can get another few points," said Slavey. "But getting that assist and passing it to someone and going down the floor, it's a great feeling."
"The assistant coach came in and told us that we had 21 straight points. I think is amazing," said Bearcats Sandlin. "We just didn't stop from there. We couldn't miss. We shot the daylights out I guess you could say (giggling)."
The Pioneers only basket came from Stephenson when she drained
one from behind the arch.
