Tyler Carr's 28 points lift Braves to 10th victory

DRY RIDGE, Ky-Grant County (9-6) was coming off a thrilling win in the final moments against Owen County (11-7), Tuesday night. The Braves were down by one with 4.8 seconds left in the game when its senior guard Trevor Hunt hit a 3-pointer to win 60-58.

That win was the Braves' ninth of the season which matched its total wins from last year. Saturday, the boys from Grant County reached double digits in the win

Villa Madonna averaged 54 points a game and allowed 57 going into Saturday's match-up.

The Braves was faster to the punch than the Blue Lightning, Saturday. After the first period the home team led 25-10 and 43-22 at the half.

Grant County's Trevor Hunt had a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds and teammate Tyler Carr had 28 points for the night. Andrew Hurely added 13.

Villa Madonna's junior guard, Andrew Smith had 13 points and Derek Phelps added 10.

The biggest difference in the game was points in the paint. GC had 46 compared to VM's 16. Grant County shot just under 51 percent from the field compared to Villa Madonnas 31 percent. That had a lot to do with the Braves' aggressive defensive play. GC sent the VM to the line 33 times. GC went to the line 14.
